Wonderful Styled Photo Shoot

styled tour de france inspired fashion photo

The famous Tour De France is making it's way to Yorkshire, this year, and by 'eck we are all excited about it, as it will be passing through Hebden Bridge on the way up Cragg Road (the longest hill climb in Britain)!

Inspired by this, a group of talented Hebden Bridge creatives, local businesses and an amazing photographer came together to bring a bit of glamour to the proceedings with a styled photo shoot influenced by the 1949 film 'A Boy, A Girl and a Bike'. Starring the epitemy of glamorous British actresses of the day, Diana Dorrs and Honour Blackman, the story was set in Yorkshire, and was about a the classic love triangle story, set against a backdrop of fabulous local landscape with a local cycling club.

There are many beautiful photos from the day, which was what turned out to be a glorious sunny early March day (we were very lucky!).

You can see the credits of who helped make the day such a success below, and view more pictures in my portfolio

Something unique for Mother's Day

Mother's Day is coming up really soon, so what a perfect time to buy something special for your mum to let her know just how special she is? I am often asked to make unique versions of my designs for special occasions (or just because) and there is still just time for me to make something to suit your mum.

This is an example of a bepoke version of my Arran jewellery.

This particular version has muscovite, aquamarine, prehnite and pink opal. I think it's a great combination for spring.

What would you like me to make for your mum?

Welcome Snowdrops

My first news update of the year, having had a very quiet January to take stock. Orders have still been flooding in, though, and I'd like to thank you all for your patience during my slower January time this year.

I have more designs coming, and will be adding them as and when they are ready. Keep popping by or sign up to my newsletter if you haven't already.

I know the weather has been terrible for many of you, so I thought I'd share some hopeful snowdrops to try and cheer you up. These have been a very welcome sight the last few weeks.

See you soon!

Rounding up 2013

What a wonderful year it's been!

I have my wonderful customers to thank. Many of you I have made jewellery for again and again, some of you have given me the most heart-warming feedback, and I got to meet some of you in person at the Country Living show. It really makes it all worth while.

I'm off to spend Christmas with my family, and will not be making jewellery from 20th December til 6th January. The shop is still open, so please do look around and buy if you see something you like, just be aware that orders will be made and dispatched during the week of 6th - 10th January. For the rest of January I will have a 2 week dispatch time so that I can take time to sort things out and plan my year.

Have Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2014, I'll see you soon!

Free earrings with every order!

[UPDATE 16th December: Free earring gifts all gone, sorry!]

I'm just back from the Country Living Fair in Harrogate, and it was a great show! I loved meeting some of you, and seeing some of you again.

Now, it's officially time to get all Christmassy and to celebrate I am including a little present from me to you with the first 22 orders placed between now and my last posting date for Christmas! Your order will include a mystery pair of earrings, perfect for your Christmas stocking or you can give them to a loved one if you prefer. No peaking before Christmas!

I'm giving them out on a first come, first served basis, and when they're gone, they're gone... don't miss out!

Autumnal Turn ...

Back for another season is my Winter Forest Collection! I've loved designing this collection, inspired by the woods near my home, and entwined with the mystery and superstition the dark woods always brought in winter time.

More designs are being uploaded this week, so please keep checking or subscribe to my new handmade jewellery products RSS feed to keep you posted when the newest designs appear.

Renovations in progress ...

We are currently in last and most disruptive stage of Rachel Lucie HQ renovations, started 2 years ago and involving reroofing the house, converting the loft, moving the boiler and radiators and finally, now, a three bedroom swap around with full decoration.

We are squeezing every last inch of space out of our little house and home workshop to expand Rachel Lucie Designs and bring (some!) family peace. Apart from the roof and water related parts, we have done all this work ourselves, with Mr RL doing the power tool related things and now my bit - decorating every surface in sight.

I hope you'll understand that jewellery has to take a back seat for a few weeks until everything is returned to a normal, and in fact a much better state than when we started (or it will be a very poor show, won't it?). All current orders and commissions are being finished off this week, and new orders can be placed right now, as usual as long as you don't mind a longer wait than normal.

SAVE THE DATE : Back open 8th May

Please do get in touch if you want a special commission, such as for a wedding, as I will be available to email and can contact you directly to discuss your needs.

Thanks for your patience, it's much appreciated!

Hope you've been having a lovely break with friends and family. We have finally been treated to some lovely and longed for Spring weather here in West Yorkshire, perfect for the Easter weekend.

Here's wishing you a Happy Easter!

There are new designs on my work bench, waiting to be added to the site, see you soon :)

Taking a Break!

Things are busy around here! As a single-handed designer-maker, things can stack up and with our house improvements (allowing me the loft space to expand Rachel Lucie Jewellery) still only half finished, I feel I need to take a break from orders this week to catch up on non-business things, and get to grips with getting this years new jewellery collections finished and photographed. I have also been having supplier issues for a couple of weeks which need to get ironed out so that I can continue to give the good service you expect.

Please continue to browse and buy as normal, I know many of you are often not too worried about the timescale, knowing that everything is made by me to order. I will start posting orders starting Monday 4th March, although depending on orders, it may take a week to catch up. When your order is accepted, I will get in touch quickly and let you know when to expect you individual order during the next week.

Any questions, do get in touch.

I promise to be back with nice things to share.
